French Trip 2013
48 new Year 8s travelled to France's Opal Coast on Saturday 29th June. We first visited a traditional bakery where the students learnt how bread is made and had a go at making croissants themselves. After dinner, they played in the sand dunes near the Hotel Sables D'Or at Stella Plage. On Sunday we first visited the 2nd World War Museum at Ambleteuse and 6 students won prizes for completing the questionnaire - Ellie Wiffen and Charlotte Baldry scored 18 out of 20, and Niamh Mellotte, Megan Butterworth, Oscar Archard and Joseph Marshall all scored 17.5. We also watched a short film about the D Day landings. We then visited Boulogne old town for some shopping and after a picnic lunch, we went to Nausicaa Sea Life Centre where the highlight was the sea-lion show. One of them high-fived its trainer and could waggle its whiskers when commanded! In the evening we went to Le Touquet - Miss Weimar and Miss Payne organised games and then we had a drink in a smart cafe called Hippopotamus. On Monday we spent most of the day at La Bagatelle Park before catching the ferry home.
