Free School Meals

Check if your child can get free school meals with the Free School Meal Checking Service.

Free School Meal Checking Service

Many parents/carers do not realise that their child might be eligible for Free School Meals, and the process might seem complicated.

If you would like to see if your child is eligible, then we can check this for you. Simply fill out the form by clicking the button below. All we need is your name, date of birth, and National Insurance number.

Alternatively, you can submit a claim to your local authority:
https://www.redbridge.gov.uk/schools/free-school-meals/

If you are eligible, your school will be notified and your child will receive free school meals. Your child will be allocated £1.25 for breakfast (8am to 8.30am) and £2.25 for lunch. Further information will be emailed to those eligible for Free School Meals.

What are the eligibility criteria?
The eligibility criteria can be found on the government website HERE

Where can I get more information?
If you need any further information, please contact the local authority or visit

It is important to note that -

  • Taking up the meal is recommended but is not compulsory
  • A child may receive additional help as a result of being registered, for example help with the cost of music lessons or school trips
  • Registering a child for free school meals will bring more money to their school.

The school uses a cashless catering system. Students entitled to free school meals will have their account automatically credited with money.
